Radaza welcomes election petition filed by Patalinjug

Ermida Q. Moradas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza welcomes the petition filed by the camp of one of her opponents, PDP Laban mayoralty bet Rolando 'Lando' Patalinjug, to include the city in the investigation into election results.

Radaza, in a press conference yesterday, said that it is Patalinjug's right to file the petition.

"It's his right. Pero og ingon nga nanikas ug unsa, wa. Padayon lang siya og unsay gusto niya ipaabot," said Radaza.

Patalinjug's camp filed the petition before the Senate and the Commission on Elections Tuesday.

"Natural man nga ang napildi, maglain gyud ang buot. Natural na nga moingon sila ug ang ilang supporters nga gitikasan sila," she said.

However, Radaza said that to allege a questionable election result just because they achieved a landslide win in all barangays is not right.

She said the election result was not questionable since it can be proven by their three consecutive 15-0 wins in the past elections.

Further, she said Patalinjug should not compare himself to Jun Pelaez, her strong opponent in the 2013 election, who won in particular barangays in Lapu-Lapu, since their situation was entirely different. Patalinjug is questioning why he lost in all polling precincts, including his own precinct.

"I know nga niubos-ubos ko sa 2013, but I don't think gikomparar niya iyang kaugalingon ni (Patalinjug) with Pelaez, it's entirely different," she said.

Radaza also questioned the delay in the complaints of people allegedly experiencing discrepancies in their voters' receipts, which allegedly showed the names of Team Deretso candidates even if they voted straight for Patalinjug's team.

She pointed out that it's her accomplishments as mayor that gave her the edge over her opponents.

"People look for your output kung unsa, kung unsa imung nahimo? Dili raman nga ingon nga ako, but what they (Oponganons) seen sa imung na agi." she said. — (FREEMAN)
