PIB cops nab robbery suspect after 6-hour chase
CEBU, Philippines - After a six-hour chase, Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch personnel arrested a 23-year-old man who is allegedly involved in last Sunday’s robbery in Bogo City.
Senior Police Officer 1 Rey Solante of PIB said they were tapped by Bogo City Police Station to track down Jess Sentillas in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, where he lives with his relatives.
Sentillas is reportedly one of the three men who robbed a sari-sari store owned by Presentacion Mendoza in Barangay Carbon, Bogo City on Sunday afternoon and took P100,000 cash.
The suspect was identified through closed-circuit television camera footage.
Solante said that at around 5 a.m. yesterday, they entered a house in Barangay Kamputhaw where Sentillas was staying.
The suspect allegedly noticed the presence of the police and jumped off the window.
He then rode a motorcycle-for-hire and the chase began.
When Sentillas arrived in Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, he reportedly rode another motorcycle-for-hire.
Solante said they were able to catch up with Sentillas in Barangay Poblacion, Consolacion when he had a disagreement with the driver over his fare.
The suspect, Solante said, admitted to be a member of a syndicate funded by a “Tagalong-speaking man,” but he denied any involvement in last Sunday’s robbery. — (FREEMAN)
