12 fall in drug-busts; P3.2M shabu seized

CEBU, Philippines - Over P3 million worth of suspected shabu was seized by the operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group-7 during a buy-bust operation Saturday evening in Sitio Sampaguita, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City.

The operation led by Senior Inspector Ruel Burlat also resulted in the arrest of suspected drug pusher Ramonito Regis alias Amon Regis, 48; his son Ramie, 18; and Ramonito's live-in partner, Nerissa Aguilar, 35.

The police recovered 275 grams of illegal drugs from Ramonito with an estimated value of P3.2 million. Burlat said Ramonito is capable of disposing 300 to 500 grams every week.

The operation was a result of a week-long surveillance after the police was informed of the suspect's illegal activities.

Meanwhile, nine people were arrested in a separate buy-bust operation conducted by the Bogo City Police Station on Friday in Barangay Sambag.

Suspected drug pusher Melogin Gonzaga, 22, was caught in the act of selling a pack of shabu to an undercover policeman. Eight other people were arrested sniffing drugs inside Gonzaga's house – Yvan Apostle, 20; Michael Manalili, 33; Johny Cabreros, 42; Jerry Radin, 43; Emar Malinao, 18; Jay Mahusay, 21; Lawrence Damayo, 33; and Ricksmith Piamonte, 35.

  The operation was also a result of the one week surveillance conducted by the police. The successful anti-drug operation was in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- 7.

The suspects are currently detained at the Bogo City Police Station pending the filing of the criminal complaint for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Mylen P. Manto, Bryner L. Diaz and Elleh Mae P. Maglinte
