Says he’s hungry: Man steals hotdogs from burger joint

CEBU, Philippines - A man was nabbed while trying to escape after stealing a pack of hotdogs from a burger joint in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Jason Pabuaya, 24, ended up not being able to eat the hotdogs after witnesses caught up with him.

As per investigation, the attendant of Minute Burger was busy doing her daily tasks inside the stall at past 8 a.m. yesterday when the suspect took a pack of hotdogs and ran away.

The suspect boarded on a jeepney to escape but motorcycle-for-hire drivers who saw him leaving chased him.

They flagged the jeepney and apprehended the suspect. He was then turned over to the police.

Asked why he stole the goods, the suspect said he was hungry, said Police Officer 1 Merlo Laborte of Punta Police Station.

The suspect was inconsistent in his statements, Laborte said, and would also say that the hotdogs were only given to him by a companion.

Information gathered by the police though showed that he was alone when he stole the goods.

The suspect is now detained at the police station and will be charged for theft. — (FREEMAN)
