CEBU, Philippines - Clothes for Life, an organization of fashion designers in Cebu, is supporting the congressional bid of Cebuana beauty queen Yedda Marie Mendoza Kittilstvedt Romualdez.

Romualdez is running for representative of the first district of Leyte to replace her husband, Martin, who is running for Senate.

The group’s president, Philipp Tampus, said they consider Romualdez as their muse and icon and support for her means support for her husband.

“We have supported her and it follows we are supporting his husband,” Tampus said.

Romualdez, the 1996 Bb. Pilipinas International, said she decided to run for Congress so she can give back to the people of Leyte.

“I am so blessed and grateful and I really need to help out after seeing the devastation our town in Leyte during Yolanda,” she told Cebu reporters.

Now a mother of four, Yedda is one of the 42 grandchildren of ALU-TUCP founder Democrito Mendoza.

Romualdez said her husband’s “genuine heart to serve the country” qualifies him a Senate seat.

“I am proud to say that he is very qualified to become a senator. He has a genuine heart to serve the country,” she said.

She added that no matter how busy her husband is, he makes sure to spend time with the family. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary last February 4.  (FREEMAN)
