Man indicted for child abuse

CEBU, Philippines – A 27-year-old man accused of hitting a minor in the face was indicted by the Cebu City Prosecutor's office for child abuse.

Gil Cañete will have to face trial for violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 after associate prosecution attorney Jennifer Alo-Leyson has found probable cause against him.

Cañete was accused by a 13-year old boy of hitting him in the face with his fist and saucer. The incident happened on October 26, 2015 in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

The victim, whose name withheld by The Freeman, said he was looking for his younger brother outside their house when it happened. According to the complainant, the accused is known to bullying minors in their place.
