‘Prophet’ chains self to Capitol’s flagpole

The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - A man who claimed to be a messenger of Abraham and David chained himself to the flagpole of the Cebu Provincial Capitol yesterday morning as allegedly “ordered by the wisdom” to bring together the four “pillars of the country.”

Erwin Oliveros, 57, a native of Tudela town in Camotes Island, was taken to Fuente Police Station after chaining himself to the Capitol’s flagpole at past 9 a.m. yesterday.

He demanded former President Fidel Ramos, Archbishop Socrates Villegas, Congressman Manny Pacquiao, and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to come together as they allegedly have a mission to fulfill.

In an interview with the media, Oliveros explained that he chained himself as part of the process in “feeding” his master. He said he could only be freed once he has satisfied his master through accomplishing his mission - to bring in four people who are pillars of the country.

He mentioned Ramos, Villegas, who heads the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, and Pacquiao, who, he said, will make the country stronger.

The last one he cited, after thinking for several seconds, was Duterte.

“Duna na sila’y bug-at nga tulumanon sa ilang nasod. Ang ikaupat diay ang mayor sa syudad sa prutas nga daghag tunok,” Oliveros said.

Armando Etorma, head guard of the Capitol, said he immediately directed her fellow security guards to call the attention of Oliveros after seeing him chaining himself.

“Naa daw mahitabo sa nasod pero gilikay tungod sa word of wisdom, mao iyang sige og litok,” Etorma said.

Chief Inspector David Señor, chief of Fuente Police Station, said that during their initial interview with Oliveros at the station, they found out that there was “something” with him.

Oliveros, Señor said, told them that he would not care if he will be imprisoned even for 90 years as he had allegedly fulfilled the mission given to him by Abraham and David.

But Señor clarified that Oliveros was attentive to the questions asked about him and could even answer them.

However, Oliveros would allegedly always refer to the bible and talk about his mission everytime he answers the questions of the police investigator.

“Mora’g naa’y depekto sa pangisip. Basin nasobraan sige’g basa sa bibliya, ma-surpass-an pa ang kaalam sa Ginoo,” Señor said.

Since no one showed up to file a complaint against Oliveros, he was released by the police last night. — (FREEMAN)
