Tomas: Rama wasting funds

CEBU, Philippines- Former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña, the brains behind the South Road Properties, lambasted City Mayor Michael Rama even after Rama thanked him during the latter’s State of the City Address the other day.

On Saturday, Rama expressed before thousands of attendees his gratitude to his archenemy, Osmeña, for the SRP, which is now generating income for the city.

But Osmeña did not appreciate his words.

Osmeña instead spoke against Rama yesterday morning on his Facebook fanpage for “wasting” his term’s remaining funds and for selling a bigger part of the SRP.

Osmeña recalled that he created the SRP to ensure the city’s future and so it resulted to the inflow of government funds allocated for the construction of schools, student scholarships and widening of roads, among others.

In his 11-paragraph post, he claimed that there was a P2.4 billion remaining as government resource, which included the SRP funds, when he ended his term as the city mayor.

Osmeña, founder of the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), lost in the May 2013 election to Rama. Rama had 217,448 votes over Osmeña’s 211,072.

For a long time before that they were political allies.

“Apan unsa may gihimo ni Rama? Wa magdugay, gihurot niya ang pundo nga akong gibilin. Diin man padung ang kwarta?

Last month, he also announced his decision to run again as mayor saying Rama’s administration has failed to implement projects that would benefit the constituents of Cebu City.

The P1.6 billion down payment Osmeña was referring to was the recent earnings of the city from the bid security bond of the declared highest bidders for the sale of a total of 45 hectares at the SRP.

On June 30, the city’s Committee on Awards declared the consortium of Ayala Land, Cebu Holdings Inc. and SM Prime Holdings as the highest bidder with P10.009 billion for a 26.3-hectare property, while Filinvest Land Inc. was the highest bidder with P6.7 billion for a 19.2-hectare property.

It has been shared to over 600 Facebook users.

“Ug kanus-a ra kaha kutob kining halin ni Rama sa SRP nga P1.6 bilyones? Wa man gani magdugay ang akong gibilin nga P2.4 bilyones. — /BRP (FREEMAN)
