Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - He thought all has gone well, but a 22-year-old man was shot to death by the former lover of his girlfriend, Wednesday night in Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion town.

Junrey Suan, of Limasawa, Southern Leyte, died immediately from a gunshot wound to his forehead.

The fleeing suspect was identified as Michael Abatayo Yuson, 24, of Barangay Saksak, Aloguinsan town.

Senior Police Officer 1 Edmund Melendrez of Consolacion Police Station said Suan just came from Southern Leyte Wednesday after his girlfriend Fritzie Leones asked him to come over to Cebu.

Leones brought Suan to her boarding house around 6 p.m. and minutes later, Yuson arrived.

The suspect reportedly knocked on the door and when Leones opened it, the suspect looked at Suan and asked Leones if he was her new boyfriend.

When Leones answered yes, the suspect made her choose between him and Suan. Leones chose Suan over Yuson, bowed her head and cried.

The suspect then shook hands with Suan and told him, “Ikaw na’y bahala ani’ng akong uyab.” Suan answered, “ako na’y bahala ani kay naghilak ra ba ni.”

But a few moments later, Leones heard a single gunshot and saw her boyfriend already lying on the floor covered in blood.

The suspect immediately fled after shooting the victim while Leones tried to call for help.

However, the victim died immediately due to a gunshot wound to his forehead.

Melendrez said the suspect may have used a revolver in killing the victim.

The body of the victim was brought to Maturan Funeral Homes in Liloan town. A hot pursuit operation is ongoing for the arrest of the suspect. (FREEMAN)
