2 burglars hit house of Korean couple

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Around P80,000 cash and valuables were burglarized from the house of a Korean national at Doña Rita Village, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City Saturday night.

Two persons reportedly burglarized the house of Heedong Kim, 43.

Investigation showed that the burglars forcibly entered Kim’s house by detaching the jalousie blades of the maid’s quarter before proceeding to the master’s bedroom.

The thieves reportedly carted away P80, 000 cash, 20 pieces of Macqueen lipsticks, a Mac foundation, and assorted documents owned by Kim and his wife.

Police Officer 3 Romer Varona of the Cebu City Police Office Theft and Robbery Section said they do not have the identities of the burglars yet as of press time.

Varona said Kim alleged that when he and his wife got home at around 8:30 p.m., they caught two unidentified men who immediately ran away upon seeing them.

However, the victims could not specifically describe the two men.

Varona said Kim’s maid was taking her dayoff at the time of the burglary. He ruled out the possibility of an inside job.

The security guard in the village, Varona said, did not notice two men at the time of the incident.

There are no closed-circuit television camera installed at Kim’s house but Varona said they will check if there are any CCTV’s near their house.

Personnel of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit also conducted ocular inspection and found fingerprints at the crime scene.

Security guards of the subdivision were advised to conduct roving in the morning and afternoon. The police found out that the guards start conducting roving in the village at 11 p.m. — Grace Melanie I. Lacamiento/NSA (FREEMAN)
