Woman files rape plaint vs TV talent

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 33-year-old woman reported to the police claiming that she was raped by a talent of a major television network.

Elements of the City Intelligence Branch invited the man for questioning yesterday morning after the woman, whom he reportedly met Thursday evening, alleged that he raped her.

The Freeman is withholding the names of both the man and woman due to the sensitivity of the case.

The man was turned over to the Waterfront Police Station where the victim reported the incident.

Senior Inspector Arieza Otida, chief of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk, said the victim alleged that she and the TV talent met together with their friends in a bar along General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City around 9 or 10 p.m.

The woman reported that when they all decided to go home around 3 a.m., she and the man rode a taxi cab. She said she thought she will be brought home but they proceeded instead to a motel.

Otida said the woman reported that she and the TV talent had sexual intercourse and she was not able to resist since she was drunk.  She added that the man took a video of what happened.

The TV talent declined to comment on the matter. But according to Station Chief Senior Inspector Wayne Magbanua, he told police that the woman asked P10,000 from him after the sexual contact.

“After sa nahitabo, iya daw gihatod sa balay ang babaye nya gipangayoan siya og bayad. Nidagan daw siya kay nahadlok,” he said.

Magbanua added that the man was willing to pay the woman, who went to the hotel where he was staying. However, his friends reportedly stopped him from giving her the money.

The TV talent, who was in Cebu reportedly for a business appointment, was about to leave for Manila yesterday. — Grace Melanie I. Lacamiento/ATO (FREEMAN)
