Almendras: PNoy doing everything

CEBU, Philippines - Cabinet Secretary Ruben Almendras said the Aquino administration is doing everything for “job generation and poverty alleviation of the Filipinos.”

Almendras, who was in Cebu yesterday and served as the guest speaker of a forum organized by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas-Cebu Chapter, said the administration of President PNoy is “clearing the field, so that the next administration will have a clear field to plant on.”

“We wanted nga han-ay na ang mga proyekto ug programa karon, para ang mosunod nga administrasyon, hayahay na,” said Almendras after the forum, which was attended by students from the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

Almendras likewise urged the students to vote wisely in the 2016 national and local elections so that all progress and development of the current administration will not go to waste, he said.

“I am not running for any political position in 2016. But I am urging you, the youth, to vote wisely in 2016,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretary likened the present situation of the Aquino administration to a boat being manned by the President with people within the boat who want to destroy it.

“Naay uban nga imbis mutabang og bugsay, magkuha pa hinoon og kutsilyo para ibuslot sa bangka,” he added.

Further, Almendras presented to the students the Integrated Economic and Human Development Framework of the Aquino administration.

The administration, he explained, is changing its performance-measuring mechanism to “outcome-based budgeting system” from the previous “output-based budgeting system”.

“We were able to save a lot because of this new system,” Almendras said, citing the budget spent for the Armed Forces of the Philippines modernization.

He said the government was able to save P1.6 billion from AFP alone because of proper bidding and the amount saved was used in purchasing 47,000 new US-made rifles. — (FREEMAN)
