CEBU, Philippines - Items amounting to at least P13 million have been retrieved from the old building of the Cebu City Medical Center.

Based on the report of the CCMC ad hoc committee, items including generator sets, electrical wires and breakers, thread mill, aluminum water tank, compressor with motor, and tiles worth P9,000,641 have been placed under the custody of CCMC and the Cebu City Department of Engineering and Public Works.

Other items including medical and computer equipment and furniture worth P4,380,530.30 have also been turned over to the General Service Office for safekeeping and disposal.

The ad hoc committee is being chaired by Councilor Mary Ann delos Santos.

In a separate development, the realignment of the Panganiban Road will start before the month ends, considering that the demolition was done in less than two months earlier than the proposed three-month demolition period.

The demolition started on February 24 during the commemoration of the Cebu City Charter Day and was completed on April  2.

CCMC was declared unsafe for occupancy following the powerful earthquake last year.

According to Delos Santos the design of the 10-storey hospital costing P1.3 million will be finalized next week.

Of  the P1.3 billion, P994.86 million is for the building while P305.14 million is for the realignment of  Panganiban Street and construction of the CCMC School of nursing building.

"Daghan pa technical details nga i-finalized. The drawings will be revised to tailor fit the site," Delos Santos said. – (FREEMAN)
