Celebrating Cebuano Heritage and Pride

CEBU, Philippines — From signature homemade delicacies to a full-on cultural show, Golden Prince Hotel & Suites celebrates the fiesta of the Señor Santo Niño, from January 19 to 21.

Today and tomorrow, the Sinulog Brunch Buffet at Le’Mon restaurant, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., showcases indulgent Cebuano fare. The menu proudly incorporates locally-sourced ingredients from all over Cebu – the feast boasts of seafood from Bantayan and cheeses from Danao, among others, resulting in mouthwatering items like tamarind and coconut creamed mahi-mahi, Cebu lechon belly with baked camote and taro, beer balsamic kambing adobo and the hotel’s signature beef salpicao, to name just a few. Today, an interactive sutukil station lets guests grill their choice of sliced bariles or local yellowfin, while a station with more Cebuano delicacies awaits, with whole lechon from Talisay, for dinner.

The Golden feast may be capped with a DIY halo-halo or bottomless soft-serve ice cream and, in the afternoon, guests may enjoy a snack of local favorites made-while-you-wait, with the Painit sa Kabilin at the Kabilin Heritage Lounge from 2 to 6 p.m.

Visiting friends and relatives may be treated to the Festivals of Cebu Cultural Show, tonight, from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Alicia Hall. The show prides of colorful costumes and dynamic choreography like the Karansa of Danao, Palawod of Bantayan, and more, culminating with the Sinulog of Cebu City.

Tomorrow, Saturday, everyone may cap off the day with Tribal Nights from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Lanai alfresco lounge with drumbeats for an evening of lounging in exotic experience. The following day, January 21, is for dining in the hotel’s Sinulog Food Street Festival with various savory grilled items to be enjoyed outdoors along Acacia street from 10 a.m. until last man standing.
