SM Seaside City & SM City Cebu Tree Lighting Rites

On Thursday, November 9, the lighting ceremony of SM Seaside City’s 60-foot tree was led by SM Prime Holdings, Inc. vice-president Marissa N. Fernan, along with young personalities who represented each number of the countdown including (from 10 to 1): Zoe Lee, Yohan Gayatin, Daniel Siao, Juan Alegrado, Luis Seno, Ema Onda, Mather Rousseau, Saige Romualdez, Bentley Uy, and Parker Uy. The performers of the night were the UC Chorus with Caelah Tan of the School of Rock, Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra, and Ballet Center Cebu.

SM Cares, SM Supermalls and Toy Kingdom also launched their annual charity project, SM Bears of Joy. For P200, a customer can buy a pair of toy bears. One of the bears will be given to the customer, and the other one will go to a beneficiary kid. Selling is done across selected SM establishments.

Meanwhile, two days after the event at SM Seaside City, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. vice-president Marissa N. Fernan also led the lighting ceremony of SM City Cebu’s tree, along with kids from Kythe Foundation, Inc. Performers of the night were the Mandaue Youth and Children’s Chorus conducted by Mr. Dennis Sugarol, University of Cebu dancers, and the SM Philharmonic Orchestra.

After the tree lighting, the Christmas Village of Hope was also launched through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton and Joji Tugonon. Donors may visit the Northwing Atrium should they wish to sponsor/adopt miniature pieces at the Christmas village, including miniature houses for P5,000, miniature trains for P20,000 per carriage, and churches of the world, which range from P15,000 to P25,000. Proceeds will help fund the chemotherapy and radiation of the children with cancer under Kythe Foundation, Inc. Kythe Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization which provides psychosocial support to over 11,000 children with cancer and other chronic illness and their families every year.
