A Benefit Art Exhibit

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu-established Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines Inc. (PASPI) had the opening of a benefit art exhibit last Friday, October 13.

On display at the Rizal Memorial Library and Museum, the show is the second fundraiser organized by the organization this year – a benefit show intended to extend financial support to a fellow artist who is currently undergoing hospital care.

The show presents a series of landscapes and life-in-the-countryside scenes rendered in neoclassic and romantic period styles. Mostly composed of oil on canvas pieces, the exhibit also features a selection of watermedia-rendered works, and will be on display in the venue till the end of the year.

Present during the opening was Ana Maria Theresa Labrador, the assistant director of the National Museum.

Prior to the exhibit’s opening, Labrador led a discussion on the forthcoming opening of the National Museum’s “Natural History Museum” in Manila on October 29.

Titled “The Ultimate Field Trip for Museums and Galleries Month,” the talk mainly revealed the many highlights of the soon-to-open “Natural History Museum”.

Next week’s opening of the museum completes the National Museum’s flagship facilities in Manila. (FREEMAN)
