Eye-bag Removal

The Freeman

Do you like what you see when you look in the mirror? Are your eye-bags looking like excess baggage to you? Most people see their flaws but are too hesitant to make changes. The have all the excuses possible to delay the visit to a cosmetic surgeon.

Seeing and hearing about botched cosmetic surgery procedures can make one cow out, of course. The best way to get ideal results is to go for a consultation and let the cosmetic surgeon explain everything about eye-bag removal – from the causes to the procedure and downtime, if any. Everything one needs to know and expect beforehand to minimize fears.

There is no harm in getting two to three consultations from different cosmetic surgeons, so you can decide who shall do the procedure on you.

Eye-bags are caused by the fats underneath the lower lids protruding due to muscle laxity as we age. Some people have eye-bags that appear only when they smile. Those are orbital muscles, which can also be minimized with the proper technique.

Others think that those dark circles under the eyes are eye-bags. These are entirely different. Eye-bags are mostly hereditary. Lifestyle also plays a major role in developing eye-bags, especially those who habitually hit the sack very late. Eye-bags concern us since these make us look tired and stressed all the time.

Those whose jobs are people-oriented really need to look young since they are the front-liners of their companies. Most OFWs have their eye-bags removed during their vacations for fear that they will be replaced by younger looking contemporaries. Fortunately, a trained cosmetic surgeon can remove the tell-tale signs of aging to make you look younger and fresh looking again.

The procedure is done in one hour maximum under local anesthesia. The incision is made just a few millimeters below the lash line. This is dissected to expose and remove the fats. Hemostasis is done and it is then the incision closed removing the excess skin so as not to have sagging skin.

The surgeon will prescribe prophylactic antibiotics and pain relievers for one week. Patients are instructed to avoid carrying heavy objects within the week to avoid bleeding. They are also advised to place cold compress for the first 24 hours, followed by warm compress for the next 24 hours.

Stitches are removed after seven days and the patient may already wash and wet the incision site by then. If the patient is a bleeder and bruises appear after the operation, he or she may already apply concealer on the eighth day.
