Thai Sojourn – A Culinary Journey

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor Ynclino - The Freeman

Vibrant flavors were brought to Café Marco by way of one of the world’s most popular cuisines – Thai.

This Culinary Journey featured Thai Chef Nontra Udon Buapha from Marco Polo Prince Hotel, Hong Kong who has over 38 years of experience in kitchen. He loves using local natural spices to create a variety of colorful, aromatic and mout-watering Thai delicacies, including his signature dishes, the Tom Yung Goong and Pad Thai.

Other traditional dishes prepared were pineapple fried rice, Thai green duck curry, chicken coconut soup, stir-fried mussels with chili, garlic and basil, and a whole lot more.

Complementing the Thai hot specialties were Thai desserts, mango sticky-rice and sago in coconut milk. Anyway, one would have savored the unique flavors of this favorite Southeast Asian cuisine and a truly authentic Thai gastronomic experience. But sad to say, Chef Buapha had had to cut short his stint at Café Marco for only four days.

By the way, during this Press launch of Thai Sojourn at Marco Polo, we were fortunate to meet the new general manager – Mr. Brian Connelly. Mr. Connelly brings with him a wealth of experience in various leadership roles spanning over 38 years with prominent hotels and resorts in Asia Pacific, Middle East and the United States, making him the ideal successor to lead Cebu’s hospitality landmark perched atop the hills of Cebu City.

To Mr. Brian Connelly, welcome to the Queen City of the South!
