Tacloban PNP nabs Espinosa’s drug trader
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — A Filipino-Chinese level-2 high value target—included in the watchlist of drug traders under the Espinosa drug group operating in Eastern Visayas—was arrested on Tuesday afternoon at Barangay Abucay, this city.
Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) Director Senior Superintendent Rolando Bade said his operatives scored big in their anti-drug campaign with the arrest of 41-year-old Dexter Ty, a resident of Barangay 8-A in Tacloban who has been tagged as a drug trader of the Espinosa syndicate.
Bade said the TCPO’s successful buy-bust operation, led by Senior Inspector Edwin Oloan, was carried out in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit, under the revitalized drug crackdown dubbed as Project Double Barrel Reloaded.
Ty fell to the TCPO policemen when he sold a P500-worth of shabu in a sachet to a poseur buyer. Shortly after his arrest, the operatives confiscated from his possession 19 sachets of shabu with a total estimated market value of P60,000; a black sling bag, and the P500 buy-bust money.
The police also said that Ty has been on bail for past cases of violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Law) and RA 10591 (Firearms and Ammunitions Law) at the Regional Trial Court-Branch 43 in Tacloban.
With his latest arrest, Ty is now detained at the TCPO Custodial Facility while drug charges are being readied for filing against him. (FREEMAN)
