CEBU, Philippines - Julianne Co, only daughter of Bigbag Property Ventures Inc. owners Jason and Mira Co, celebrated her debut at Oakridge Pavilion last April 30.

About 300 guests composed of relatives, family friends, friends from De La Salle University where she's currently a sophomore student, as well as former classmates from Philippine Christian Gospel School (PCGS) and Centre for International Education (CIE) were invited to the exquisitely decorated pavilion where together, they celebrated a milestone in Julianne's life as they enjoyed a scrumptious dinner, great music, and an evening full of precious memories to cherish.

The debut was eight months in the making and was nothing short of amazing especially with the collaboration of top names in the event industry: catering by Creative Cuisine, lights and sounds by JQ, décor by Agel Tio-Go, cake by The Chocolate Leaf's Cheryl Go, photography and videography by KEMS, music by the band Rio, graphic designs by Lee Tse, makeup by Julie Ebio, and event hosting by Ryan Uybengkee.

The radiant debutante looked stunning throughout the entire night. Her first gown, her dad's suit and her mom's gown were made by renowned fashion designer Val Taguba whose creations have been worn by celebrities such as Liza Soberano, Kathryn Bernardo and Kim Chiu among others. The second gown was created by Cebuano designer Philip Tampus, who won first runner-up in Project Runway Philippines back in 2008.

Designer Val Taguba shared, "Julianne's debutante's ball gown is reminiscent of a modern day fairytale princess who flourishes under the glare of the spotlight. Her ball gown is in scarlet red, as she was born a star. It is made of French Chantilly lace. The delicately embroidered bodice is off-shouldered and is embellished with French paillettes and crystals. It shines, as she always does."

Both designers were previously based in the Middle East, which has influenced their aesthetic and intricate designs. They were able to perfectly capture and reflect Julianne's personality through the elegance of their works.

Julianne is currently an Industrial Management Engineering student. She grew up with brothers Christian Johanne, 21 and Jan Adrian, 16. Her father describes her as a daddy's girl, a loving and thoughtful daughter who is also strong-willed and committed in pursuing her dreams. She loves to paint; in fact, she painted the artwork featured on the invite. But don't let her gentle charms deceive you though; Julianne is also highly skilled in fencing and will be part of the De La Salle varsity fencing team next year.

When asked how she felt about turning 18, Julianne replied, "Growing up is scary, but I know that I don't have to do it alone. I know that God will always be there for me in the ups and downs of my life." She finds comfort in Philippians 4:13, "I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me." Her faith amidst difficulties was something she learned from her parents. Julianne shared, "Words can't express how grateful I am to my parents. They would do anything for family and I am so blessed to have them."

When given a choice between a European tour or a debut, Julianne chose the latter because she believes that a perfect birthday is when you spend it with family, friends and food. "I just want everyone to have fun, get fat and enjoy each other's company!"

According to her father, they never threw big parties for her before so they wanted to make her debut extra special. Without a doubt, they succeeded in doing so. (FREEMAN)
