Cebu’s Young Role Models

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - They’re young, smart, and the absolute for their generation for being active in both academics and extra-curricular activities, while still having the time to enjoy the carefree years of their youth. This group of dashing young men and sassy young women comprise the Aéropostale Cebu Style League, since they embody the Aéropostale lifestyle — casual and laid back yet chic and trendy.

The group was launched together with the store opening of the store opening in Cebu in the second quarter of this year. The members were chosen according to positive personal traits, like drive for excellence, style and high standing among their peers, among other things.

Here are some of the personalities that make up the Aéropostale Cebu Style League:

Kenzo Cañizares. Kenzo is in his senior year of university, taking up Architecture.  He practices jiu jitsu to keep him fit.  In his spare time, he helps his family’s real estate development business which ties in well with his college course.  Like other young bachelors, he likes to hang out with his friends on weekends.  This former Philippine Wall Climbing non-teen league champion describes his personal style as rugged casual but smart.  He finds “both styles easy to achieve with Aéropostale apparels.”

Alyssa Sacal. This boxing and yoga enthusiast likes to read books and takes up art classes in her free time. She also plays tennis, soccer, volleyball and basketball.  “I like plain simple colors, short shorts, short sleeves – due to the hot weather. Also, I like the fit and how the design never gets old,” Alyssa says of her personal style and what she likes about the brand.

Marcko Durano. Marcko has just graduated from Centre for International Education with the degree in Business Administration, major in Marketing and minor in Accounting. He currently runs his own business, which started as his thesis project in college. He enjoys playing basketball, boxing, watching movies, trekking and traveling.

“I would describe my personal style as simple but with a bit of an edge to it. More does not always mean better. I like Aéropostale as it offers a wide array of clothes and styles which ranges from everyday casual to sportswear which gives ruggedness with a hunch of style but at the same time the essence of comfort is not given any less importance to, and lastly to night wear that you can easily pull together, be it for a casual night to a formal one,” Marcko quips.

John Tristan “JT” Gullas. Basketball player, karter and model, JT is a shorts and T-shirt, loafers kind of guy.  He likes casual and comfortable outfits that matche well with the tropical climate hereabouts.  The brand’s nice t-shirt designs and sports clothes appeal to him.

Reona Ido. She plays soccer and basketball as a varsity player at Cebu International School, for both sports. Reona describes her personal style as bohemian, preppy and edgy. Aside from sports, this 15-year-old Yellow Boat of Hope volunteer is into more relaxed activities, as well, like painting, sketching, reading and baking.

“I find it so easy to find the things I like at this store: hoodies,  leggins, skirts, dresses, sportswear, bikinis and more. Super comfortable and I can wear them for most occasions,” she says.
