Dennis Trillo shrugs off primetime competition

Dennis Trillo is excited with the airing of the pilot episode of “Mulawin vs. Ravena” on May 22. He admits feeling some kind of pressure because of the big expectation from the network and the viewers. But he is confident with the team-up of their directors, Dominic Zapata and Don Michael Perez. Direk Dom is a visionary while direk Don is an excellent storyteller.

“Mulawin vs. Ravena” is pitted against “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” starring Coco Martin, the longest-running action series from ABS-CBN.

The actor said he is glad that their show is being pitted against the top-rating show of the Kapamilya network.

“That will be a big challenge for us, and for both networks. What we have is healthy competition. ‘Ang Probinsiyano’ is an established show while ‘Mulawin vs. Ravena’ is just starting. But I believe in the capability of our production team,” said Dennis.

The actor returns as Gabriel who embraces his fate as a Ravena and is now the King of Halconia. With a new ruler, the Ravena tribe strengthens its forces. While no major battles spawned among the Mulawins and Ravenas over the years, some believe that this is merely the calm before the storm and war is imminent.

The much awaited flight of “Mulawin vs. Ravena” starts this Monday on GMA Telebabad.

Expect world class entertainment, the best of original Filipino music and laugh-out-loud moments and more as they collectively share the spotlight in “Three in One,” a concert like no other, slated on June 3, 8 p.m., happening at the Theatre of Solaire Hotel and Casino.

This triumvirate of seasoned performers is without a doubt, a concert casting coup!

Hajji Alejandro’s musical career began with the group Circus Band. There, his foremost training in performance and love for music blossomed and bloomed.

Hajji also holds the distinction of being the first winner of the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival as the interpreter of Ryan Cayabyab’s “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika.”

With his matinee idol looks and distinctive vocal pipes, some of his greatest hits include “Nakapagtataka,” “Panakip Butas,” “Tag Ulan, Tag Araw,” “May Minamahal” and “Ang Lahat Ng Ito’y Para Sa Iyo.”

Possessing a husky voice, suave and all-out Pinoy macho, this is how audiences know and have learned to love Rico J. Puno.

Rico’s humble beginnings can be traced as a performer at folk houses and small clubs. This experience during his wonder years, plus his natural charisma, was noticed by the executive producers from Vicor Records.

Considered as pioneer-promoter of original Filipino music, his iconic song recordings include “Kapalaran,” “May Bukas Pa,” “Lupa,” “Magkasuyo Buong Gabi,” “Ang Tao’y Marupok” and “Macho Guapito.”

Some interesting trivia, Rico won the Aliw Award for Most Promising Entertainer in 1976. Two years later, he became Aliw’s Entertainer of the Year. His “Rico in Concert” show at the Cultural Center of the Philippines launched him as one of the foremost Philippine pop stars.

K Brosas is an actress, comedienne, singer and television host. Prior to her stint as a regular judge in the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment of “It’s Showtime,” she was part of Gladys and The Boxers and K and The Boxers.

People who love Philippine musical theater remember her when she wore the stilettos and powerful feminine character of Zsa Zsa Zaturnah.

She also became a co-host in the game show “Pilipinas Win na Win” and had given life to wonderful characters on television and motion pictures.

K is a powerful belter, comely, a little naughty on stage and puts her heart and soul in every performance.
