Sunshine Cruz keeps happily busy

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky L. Calderon - The Freeman

It is good to know that Sunshine Cruz is busy doing TV shows. She is in the cast of “Dolce Amore” on ABS-CBN. The Kapamilya network had been generous in giving her roles in their various teleseryes which keeps her busy and enables her to provide for her daughters.

Being a single mom, offers to do acting jobs whether in a teleserye or a weekly drama like “Maalaala Mo Kaya” is very much welcome for Sunshine. Not only does she gets to interact with her co-actors, she also enjoys being busy. Taping for a teleserye or a TV drama even once a week is better than being cooped up inside your home doing nothing, isn’t it?

It is best that Sunshine utilizes her God-given gifts for the betterment of herself and her daughters. A mother always thinks what is best for her children’s future.

While she may not be that successful in her married life (she is still undergoing annulment), she is not losing hope that everything will turn for the best, in the right time.

Sunshine, who celebrated her birthday last July 18, wowed the crowd when she joined FHM’s 100 Sexiest Party last Tuesday. For someone who is nearing 40, Sunshine has kept her body sexy. And she ought to be proud of it.

Kapuso Ken Chan is holding his first solo concert at the Zirkoh Bar on August 19 titled “My Destiny, Ken Chan Live in Concert,” which will gauge his capability as a singer.

The singer has signed up with GMA Artist Center which is now managing his career. The lead actor of “Destiny Rose” was very excited when he saw the tickets for his concert.

The last time we got to talk to him, Ken said he is now preparing for a new soap opera for GMA-7. But doing gay roles is not in the scheme of things for him. The role of Destiny Rose stuck to him like second skin and most of the offers he received were gay roles in TV shows and indie films. He needed time to shake off Destiny Rose from his system and that is the reason why he requested GMA-7 to give him a breather before taking a new project.

He wanted a fresh start so that the people can forget about Destiny Rose and remember that Ken is a good singer and performer before that role came his way. It is a new challenge for him to conquer the concert stage where he hopes to create a good impression.

APT Entertainment is happy with the success of “Imagine You & Me,” which stars Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. While the producers are keeping mum on how much the movie earned at the box-office (shown in 236 theaters nationwide), Alden said he doesn’t know the exact figures and it is best that we ask their producers how much the movie earned.

Of course, it is only the producers who can decide to disclose how much “Imagine You & Me” earned during its two week-run in local cinemas. They can even decide to keep quiet about the movie’s box-office take and just laugh their way to the bank.

Then again, the detractors of Alden and Maine will say the movie is a flop. No matter what the producers say, detractors will choose to believe what they want and will not want to see Alden and Maine succeed.

Now that the wish of AlDub fans of a solo film for Alden and Maine is done, there might be a chance that their next project is a teleserye. In his thanksgiving party for the entertainment press, Alden revealed that his managers and that of Maine are in the process of discussing their next project together. But he declined to give details. He hopes it will happen before the year ends.

The acting bug has bitten Angeline Quinto. The singer has accepted the offer to do the indie film “Manilak Ya Labi,” one of the entries to the Cinema One Originals. This is the first directorial job of Jose Abdel Langit (who worked as assistant director to Joel Lamangan, Mel Chionglo and Chito Roño). She will play a school teacher in the film which also stars Allen Dizon in the role of a soldier.

During the movie’s story conference, Angeline said it is her dream to win a best actress award. She just started her career as a singer then and was being managed by Star Magic. When she was asked if she wants to give acting a try, she readily said yes and was very thankful when she was cast in a teleserye that co-starred her with Sam Milby and Paulo Avelino.

She is playing lead roles in “That Thing Called Tanga Na,” the comedy film from Regal Entertainment under the direction of Joel Lamangan. She is the only one in the barkada made up of four gays played by Eric Quizon, Billy Crawford, Kean Cipriano and Martin Escudero. She drew praise from Direk Joel who found her a natural comedian.

Barbie Forteza, Arra San Agustin and Jak Roberto are the featured guests in “Bubble Gang” tonight.

Among the segments to watch out for are game show gags, Basa Basa Pik (Bitoy asks questions about Bubble Gang’s history and the chosen one must answer the question correctly or else he/she will fall into the dunk tank), Pool Señorita finale (a parody of the comedy-drama ‘Poor Señorita, wherein family members clash over the use of the swimming pool), Spoken Neneng (Boy 2 Quizon sings his heart out about the struggles of being gay), Tatalino, Hugot, Split Personality, Late Comer and Painless commercial spoof (a parody of Payless commercial featuring a guy munching noodles).
