Robin, Mariel front hotel chain’s rebranding

Robin and Mariel Padilla, one of the most loved showbiz couples today, are now the celebrity ambassadors of the re-invented Hotel Sogo.

Hotel Sogo, known as a “motorist hotel,” is now revamping its brand to cater to families, ‘barkadas’ and just about everybody from all walks of life and for all types of occasions. Families can enjoy free wi-fi access, cable TV with in-house movie channels, digital music system, 24-hour food and beverage service, among the hotel’s most popular amenities. Apart from the five room types of Regency, Executive, Deluxe, Premium and Econo, Hotel Sogo will also come up with themed rooms to entice their guests’ senses.

“If we continue to cater to just this limited market, we cannot grow. We knew for quite some time now that it makes sense to cater to different segments in the market,” said Hotel Sogo CEO Gus Corpuz, when asked why they decided on a reinvention.

“After marketing studies and financial analysis, we eventually decided that the best way is to hire a brand ambassador. This project has been in the pipeline for more than six months, debating on what is the best way to communicate to the general public that Hotel Sogo is more than just a short-time hotel.”

He added, “Two to three months of  research, focus group discussion, we came from a long list of possible endorsers and I can say that they were compared to the setting. Robin's ‘maka-masa’ appeal certainly played into that, his credibility of course is another factor as he says he does not accept any endorsement, so we have high hopes on how he can help tell the public that Hotel Sogo is an alternative to the three, four or five-star 5 hotels, especially in terms of convenience and accessibility.”

Aside from the reinvention, Hotel Sogo is also pursuing social initiatives such as “Doctors on Wheels” (DOW),  a program that provides free medical consultations and medications to the under-served communities throughout the country. To date, the program already helped 3,000 indigents since its inception in 2015.

Robin and Mariel, who are expecting their first child, are excited to work with Hotel Sogo in promoting its hotels and supporting its social initiatives. They will be featured in several TV, radio and print advertisements.

“Nais po naming suportahan ang misyon ng Hotel Sogo na yung mga hindi nakakapag-hotel dahil mahal ay maranasang makapag-hotel at maramdaman ang pag-alaga ng isang hotel,” said the actor.

Hotel Sogo strives to be at the forefront of the lodging chain industry – accessible and continuously providing clean, high quality, satisfying, good and affordable service. It is also known for having courteous, well-trained and hospitable staff through continuous employee trainings and seminars at the Hotel Management Institute of the Philippines. Hotel Sogo is also planning on building five more hotels this year.

Jay Daniel Chuong, the Philippine representative to Mr. Golden Universe to be held in Brazil on May 29, vows to give his best. He said he prepared well for the contest as he wants to lift up the spirits of the Filipinos. It is not only a contest focusing on good looks and fine physique but on having good advocacies as well.

Jay, a mountaineer, believes his advocacy about nature can work to his advantage. Even before joining the contest which selected him as representative to the Mr. Golden Universe tilt, Chuong believes his advocacy on nature is one good element that is worth pushing for. Since the Mr. Golden Universe is not your usual contest that emphasizes good looks, he believes pushing for his agenda of taking care of Mother Earth is a very laudable idea.

A native of Davao,  Jay is very proud of the achievement of presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte. “He is well-loved and respected in Davao. He did many things that improved the lives of people in Davao,” he said.

He is hoping that Duterte can help bring out the change that Filipinos are hoping for. We likewise want to wish Jay good luck as he competes  in Mr. Golden Universe.
