Kate Hudson says she’s ‘a wild mom’

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Ever since Kate Hudson split from Matt Bellamy in 2014, her life has changed quite a bit in the public eye.

The 36-year-old actress opened up to InStyle magazine about the many forms of relationships in her life, including being a mother, a best friend to a famous group of besties and a single woman with a spotlight directed on her love life.

“It really feels like high school,” she said, regarding all the speculation surrounding the men in her life, including that of singer Nick Jonas. “I can’t say hello to anybody without people speculating we’re together.”

She continued, “I don’t comment when I’m single because some of them are right, some of them are wrong. But I end up with everybody anyway! I’ve been linked to every one of my brother’s best friends. We’re going to do a coffee table book of all of my ‘mystery men.’”

The “Mother’s Day” star also discussed another personal relationship the media has had a frenzy with in the past: being a mom. For example, people couldn’t stop talking about the hilarious video she shared last summer while dancing along to “Trap Queen” with her eldest son, Ryder.

“I was really young, like, 23, when I had Ryder. So, our relationship has always been a little unusual,” she explained. “We’re close, and I am his mom. I’m big on manners and politeness. I’m big on gratitude. But I’m a bit of a wild mom.’

In fact, she takes that wildness out with her when she’s with her group of famous girlfriends, too. Hanging out with the likes of Nicole Richie and designer Jennifer Meyer, Hudson says, “I kind of like that we’re intimidating. You know when you see a group of girls walk in that’s having more fun than anyone?”

Whether smiling bright on the red carpet or hanging out with her famous BFFs, the actress appears to exude a certain level of happiness wherever she goes. How does she do it? “I like living my life—I’m not highly regimented. If I want to go out and eat at a restaurant with amazing food, I’ll do that once a week where I’m not thinking about it,” she shared. “I want to indulge! I want to do things that are not necessarily healthy sometimes.”

The proud mom urges women to not focus so much on one’s looks. Instead, focus on your inner self.

“Find the place where you feel really good in yourself. We’ve been programmed to feel like we’re under this great obligation as women to look and be a certain way. And that’s not our fault,” she argued. “That’s what culture and society have gifted us as women. Thank you but no thank you.”

Like so many women understand, life can get stressful with family, careers and all the other obstacles in life. Hudson reminds them, however, that it’s important to enjoy yourself on the wild ride.

“I don’t take myself too seriously. That’s how I am,” Kate shared. “Sometimes stress can be good stress. The whole point is that life doesn’t ever get easy. And so you have to learn how to enjoy it.” (FREEMAN)
