CEBU, Philippines - Veteran balladeers Marco Sison and Nonoy Zuñiga will join forces for a pre-Valentine concert at the IEC Pavilion in Mabolo, tonight at 8.

Dubbed “My Love Will Never Say Goodbye,” the musical affair will be the first concert staged at the newly built and historic IEC Pavilion. A portion of the concert’s proceeds will be donated to some Cebu parishes.

In a press conference Tuesday at The Little Theater Cebu along Gorordo Avenue, Zuñiga said it was a huge honor for him to banner a concert in Cebu since the province was known to be home to numerous talented singers.

Among the show’s front acts will be the Cebu Clergy Performing Arts, Sinulog Idol champions, El Tango Argentino de Filipinas and NA Scholars. Other guest performers are Anna Melissa and Sophia O.

Zuñiga said the audience should watch out for his showdown with Sison. “Pinaghandaan talaga namin yung production numbers namin ni Marco, puno ng pag-ibig  ang masasaksihan ng mga tao dahil siguradong magiging masaya sila sa love songs na hinanda namin,” said the singer, who also revealed that he is currently cooking up a new album.

Zuñiga added that aside from their most requested hits, they also prepared Visayan songs to further delight the Cebuano crowd.

The concert’s director Joey Nombres said that despite the resurgence of younger artists, Zuñiga and Sison’s charisma and vocal prowess haven’t waned.

“Hindi pa rin naluluma ang mga kanta nila kaya isang magandang proyekto na magsama sila sa isang concert,” said Nombres.

Zuñiga is the voice behind the classics “Never Ever Say Goodbye,” “Doon Lang,” “Kumusta Ka,” “Ako Ay Ikaw Rin,” “Love Worked Out A Miracle,” “Of Days Gone By,” “Kung Nais Mo,” “Hanggang Langit,” “Sa Duyan Ng Pag-ibig” and “Is This What You’re Thinkin’ Of.”

Meanwhile, Sison is known for such songs “My Love Will See You Through,” “Si Aida, Si Lorna, O Si Fe,” “Ibigay Mo Sa Akin Ang Bukas,” “Make Believe,” “Always,” “I'll Face Tomorrow,” “Mahal” and “Isusumbong Kita Sa Diyos.”  (FREEMAN)
