CEBU, Philippines — American car maker Ford posted 10 percent growth in auto take up in Cebu led by its SUV unit Everest.

Ford Cebu general sales manager Ivy Castro reported that from an average monthly sales of 50 units per month, the number went up to 140 units a month since 2015.

Castro attributed the strong buying appetite of Cebuanos for quality cars like Ford, not just for its trusted brand, but also for the lower interest rate, and attractive financing offers of banks.

Significantly, this increase also mirrors the uptick purchasing power of Cebuanos and the aggressive introduction of new Ford car units.

Ford Cebu distribution centers are located in Nivel Hills and Minglanilla, Cebu. It is planning to add one more Distribution Center or showroom either in the cities of Mandaue or Talisay.

Ford is the third fastest growing automobile brand in the Philippines, next to Toyota and Mitsubishi.

To take advantage of the buying appetite of the market today, Ford Philippines is holding its first "Test Drive Roadshow" in Cebu this coming weekend at the SM City Cebu, North Parking Covered Area.

Now on its 16th stop for this nationwide campaign, the event dubbed "The Ford Island Conquest" will let the consumers test drive the new Ford bannered units, such as Everest, Ranger and Ecosport.

"Cebu is a big car market in the Visayas region so we are very excited to bring our Ford Island Conquest after a series of successful rollouts in Luzon and Metro Manila. We look forward to seeing our customers in Cebu experience our vehicles and avail of exclusive offers and privileges, which includes a chance to avail of a P100,000 cash discount for customers purchasing their vehicles at the event," said Rodel Gallega vice president for marketing and sales for Ford Philippines.
