Tanchan family launches lutong bahay resto brand

CEBU, Philippines - The family that runs the Choobi-Choobi chain of restaurants will be opening another resto brand, this time bringing Cebuano authentic "lutong bahay" to commercial plates.

The Tanchan family, through Stan Tanchan opened the "Stan's Tinolahan + Grill" restaurant at the capitol area, (near Dynasty Inn), to offer its array of home-cooked menus served in a decent, highly sanitized dining area.

"A dilemma exists in finding the perfect balance between affordable, cleanly cooked food, more variety yet adhering to strict standards, and home-cooked yet are readily available and fast. This is core reason why Stan's Tinolahan + Grill was established. Its practically like eating from your mother's cooking," said Stan Tachan, the restaurant's founder.

Operated by Ichthys Phcemv Food Service, Tanchan said it is high time for Cebu to highlight Cebuano home-cooked dishes, not just to satisfy the cravings of Cebuanos who dine out, but also to showcase visitors and tourists the distinct local taste of Cebu.

While its sister restaurant Choobi-Choobi is known for its seafood spread, Tanchan said Stan's aims to carve its name as the top restaurant of choice, especially those who trying to cut on fast food.

Furthermore, the opening of Stan's restaurant would also address the dilemma of mostly the working class and students finding the right affordable dining place, apart from fast food chain.

The 200-seater restaurant used to be the home of the first Choobi Choobi outlet opened by the family. It is also part of Tanchan's ancestral home. (FREEMAN)
