Korean Food Festival at Marriott Café
MANILA, Philippines - There was not one empty seat in a full-house Marriott Café during the launch of its Korean Food Festival that ran throughout the month of July. The “oppa-tizing” month-long treat of Manila Marriott Hotel was in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines.
They flew in a team of four esteemed chefs from Elysian Gangchon, one of the largest and famous resorts in Seoul. The event started with a tour of the hotel’s kitchen while the chefs performed a cooking demo.
Guests were also entertained by a cultural sword dance called Geommu and an interactive photobooth where they could wear Hanbok national costumes. A bounty of popular classics and rare Korean dishes was served to guests like best sidekick, kimchi, and appetite-filling entrees like bibimbap, bulgogi, samgyeopsal, and Korean barbecue. Also spotted were healthy finds such as namul (seasoned vegetable dish), sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew), kimchi stew, and mandu (dumplings).
