MANILA, Philippines - The Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Amanda Gorely led the celebration of Australia’s National Day in the Philippines on Jan. 26, 2017 at Makati Shangri-La.
The year-long celebration of the 70th anniversary of Philippines– Australia diplomatic relations was formally launched during the APEC Leader’s Summit in November 2015.
Jumpstarting 2016 was the Say G’Day caravan at SM Malls. Some highlights included the Australian Embassy’s exhibit of Indigenous Australians with Filipino Roots, otherwise called the ManilaMen and a culminating Gala Dinner with performances from X-Factor Australia 2015 Winner Cyrus and Didgeridoo player Jeremy Donovan.
The engagement between the Philippines and Australia has grown to encompass trade and investment; education and research, development partnership, defence, security and law enforcement and regional cooperation.
