BSP’s 2016 reception
MANILA, Philippines - Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. and members of the Monetary Board recently hosted a reception at the historic 400-year old Fort San Antonio Abad, BSP Manila Complex, that brought together leaders of the banking community with movers of the economy from the private and the government sectors. This was in recognition of their partnerships in sustaining the growth of the Philippine economy.
Governor Tetangco said the Philippine banking sector continues to be a source of strength and stability for our economy: “Sound, stable and liquid, our banks are a major source of funding for our productive sectors and thereby help generate jobs that support inclusive growth across the country.” The sustained growth and stability of our banking sector and our economy in 2015 happened amid global financial turmoil. The consensus forecast for 2016 is for the Philippine economy to keep growing even in the face of challenging global conditions as our governance reforms continue to be institutionalized and sources of economic resilience remain widespread.
