SM scholars finish techvoc training in Naga, Legazpi

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — SM techvoc scholars enrolled at the Don Bosco Training Center in Naga City recently finished their training in graduation ceremonies held at the school auditorium.

Twenty of the scholars trained under the general electrician course, where one graduate, Pedro Escaro, got the highest award – the Saint Dominic Savio Award (Most Outstanding Trainee). He also received the Saint Joseph Award (Best in Workshop), Technical Excellence Award, and Perfect Attendance Award.

The recipient was in tears when he related that after high school, his parents could not afford to send him to school. He tried to go back to school but was unsuccessful until his cousins encouraged him to take a qualifying exam at Don Bosco where he was accepted as an SM scholar.

Present at the graduation ceremony were SM Foundation’s AVP for scholarship programs Eleanor Lansang, SM Naga mall manager Christian Wesley Villanueva, HR manager Elenita Sumayao and representatives from SM Supermarket.

Meanwhile, at the Don Bosco Agro-Mechanical Technology Center in Legazpi, 40 SM techvoc scholars finished their courses in general electricity. The scholars are among the over 1,600 scholars being supported by SM Foundation in different techvoc training centers nationwide.
