TESDA warns TVIs vs scholarship scams
MANILA, Philippines — Technical-vocational institutions (TVIs) were warned yesterday against offering money in exchange for a scholarship slot under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondiong said the agency would not hesitate to file appropriate charges against any TVI that will be found conniving with syndicates involved in scholarship scams.
“No individual or group should use the name of TESDA for personal interest,” Mamondiong stressed.
He said they have received information that several TVIs are giving 30 percent commission to suspected “operators” in exchange for scholarship slots under TESDA.
“It is high time that these syndicates are stopped,” Mamondiong said amid complaints on alleged illegal procedures in the granting of scholarship slots.
