MANILA, Philippines -  Higher education institutions (HEIs) affected by the transition to the K to 12 program may now apply for a creative projects grant offered by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

The agencies recently announced the opening of the application process for the 2017 cycle of SALIKHA Creative Grants, a joint program to advance research and creative projects that tackle Philippine arts and culture.

“The grants are targeted toward HEIs with faculty or non-teaching personnel affected by the K-12 transition who wish to engage in arts research or creative projects for publication, exhibition, production or other forms of public use,” the agencies said.

“HEIs may apply as a single institution representing an individual or team, or as the lead institution in a partnership or consortium of HEIs,” they added.

Chosen proposals may receive grants worth P500,000 to P10 million depending on the coverage of the art research or creative projects.

General themes include art and culture education; preservation and documentation of vanishing traditions and practices; indigenous knowledge systems and practices; local or community culture, history and language; and innovation or new technologies in the arts.

Proposals may also cover methods of conserving tangible cultural heritage, analysis of policies and programs for culture and the arts, culture and environmental management, indigenous languages and cultural or indigenous education.
