Campus News: Gokongwei students bag MFET award
Students from the Gokongwei College of Engineering topped the 2017 Magsaysay Future Engineers/Technologists (MFET) Awards. Janne Ngo won first place for her study titled “Chemical Treatment of Waste Abaca for Natural Fiber-Reinforced Geopolymer Composite”.
MFET is a competition hosted by the National Academy of Science and Technology under the Department of Science and Technology to promote young minds of future engineers and technologists in the country.
UP opens PCAN’s first project
The University of the Philippines Vargas Museum opened Place of Region in the Contemporary. It is the first project of the Philippine Contemporary Art Network (PCAN).
The project aims to connect a network of various interventions in contemporary art in the Philippines. The space runs from Dec. 8, 2017 to Jan. 27, 2018 at the UP Vargas Museum.
ASoG launches Federal system handbook
The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), in its aim to contribute to the emergent discussion on the proposed shift to a federal system of government, has launched a handbook titled “Debate on Federal Philippines.” The handbook seeks to provide answer to questions about federalism and decentralization.
Youth Policy Toolbox launches in Philippines
The National Youth Commission, in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, developed a Youth Policy Toolbox that aims to strengthen the government’s capacity to respond to the youth’s needs through training modules, opinion polls, and message postings. The interactive toolbox provides contact database that enables users to find more information about United Nation agencies, government ministries and youth organizations.
