Campus News: UST tops October 2017 CPA licensure exams

Alfonso Solomon Ramos Magno of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) ranked first in the 2017 Certified Public Accountant licensure board examinations with a rating of 91.33%. A total of 4,511 out of 14,816 examinees passed the examinations. Other top-performing schools include De La Salle University-Manila, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, UP Diliman, and the University of the East.

FEU students develop Muslim literacy app

Digital Arts student Earl Hilary Marollano, along with fellow Information Technology classmates, developed a learning app for Muslim kids in conflict areas in Mindanao. Developed through a partnership of the PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications with the Bangsamoro Development Agency, and Far Eastern University, the app will follow the Tahderiyyah kindergarten curriculums used in Islamic schools.

UP alumna recognized for work on physics

Filipina physicist Dr. Jacquilline Romero was recognized as an Australian Fellow of the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Fellowship for her work on quantum alphabets. Romero’s work aims to provide the first experimental evidence to an existing theory to verify the way information works compared to the classic case encoding system we have today. Romero currently works as a researcher at the University of Queensland and is an alumna of the University of the Philippines.

UNESCO implements inclusive quality education program

The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has implemented the Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 to allow for more inclusive quality education by 2030. Along with it are seven other goals geared to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. At the 39th Session of the UNESCO, Education Secretary Leonor Briones encouraged the organization’s support on financing accountable systems while building a responsive and humane society.
