Young BHC mathletes reap awards in China

SAN FERNANDO, La Union, Philippines – Two young Filipino mathletes from BHC Educational Institution Inc. brought home seven medals during the China Primary Mathematics Olympiad held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China from Jul. 26-31.

Competing against delegates from China’s provinces and cities under the pressue of solving each math problem in one minute, Grade 4 student Andrea Zyrene Palisoc garnered a gold in the Group Relay Race, a silver in Individual Calculation, and two bronze medals in Individual Comprehensive/ Problem Solving and Group Over-all.

Grade 6 student Lorraine Joy Calica bagged a gold in Individual Comprehensive/ Problem Solving, silver medals in Individual Calculation and Group Relay Race, ending the competition in fifth place for the group overall.

Palisoc and Calica are two of the 71 delegates who represented the Philippines in the international competition.
