2 dead, 5 hurt in Zamboanga road mishap

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Two persons died and five others were injured when a Starex van collided with a passenger bus in this city yesterday morning.

Van driver Dionisio Palma Jr., 32, and Caridad Circuelos, 56, were declared dead on arrival at the Paragas Memorial Hospital.

Dionisio Palma Sr., 56; Julie Galdon, 4; Lovely Palma, 27; Rysel Lyka Circuelos, 12; Rosel Palma, 36, were injured and brought to the same hospital for treatment.

Chief Inspector Ramon Bautista, chief of Station 2, said the accident occurred in Sitio Calanasan, Barangay Quinipot along Maria Clara Lobregat Highway at around 6:30 a.m.

The bus driver, identified as Arnel Rondovio, was arrested and would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries.
