CebuPac to use bigger planes for Taipei

MANILA, Philippines - Budget airline Cebu Air Inc. (Cebu Pacific) is set to use bigger aircraft for flights between Manila and Taipei starting next month to cope with higher number of passengers.

Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog said the use of the bigger Airbus 330 would go hand in hand with a P699 seat sale to further stimulate traffic between Manila and Taipei.

“We encourage guests to take advantage of the additional seats to Taipei, and book our trademark lowest fares when planning their trips. They can take this opportunity to explore not just Taipei but also other parts of Northern Taiwan,” Iyog said.

Cebu Pacific flies daily  between Manila and Taipei. Starting Aug. 5, the Gokongwei-led low cost carrier would fly to Taipei three times a week using the 436-seater A330 and four times a week using the 180-seater A320.

The airline previously upgraded the aircraft used for this route from May 2 to July 19 to accommodate summer traffic.

Iyog cited a trip to Keelung as an example, as this major port city borders New Taipei.

She pointed out that the P699 seat sale would last until July 12 or until seats last afterwhich the fare would start at P1,089. This seat sale is for travel from Aug. 15 to Nov. 30, 2014.

Aside from Taipei, CEB offers flights to 25 other international destinations, namely Bali, Bangkok, Beijing, Brunei, Busan, Dubai, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Incheon (Seoul), Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait, Macau, Nagoya, Osaka, Phuket, Shanghai, Siem Reap, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Xiamen.

The budget airline has earmarked P14.1 billion for its capital expenditures this year as it is gearing up for long haul flights to the US and Europe.
