MANILA, Philippines — The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) named recently Maynilad Water Services president and CEO Ramoncito “Mon” Fernandez as president for 2018, the 69th person to hold the post since MAP’s inception in 1950. 

Aside from Maynilad, Fernandez also holds directorships in Metro Pacific Investments Corp., Metropac Water Investments Corp. and some subsidiaries of PLDT including Pacific Global One Aviation Co., Tahanan Mutual Building and Loan Association and First Pacific Leadership Academy.

He has been the president and CEO of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), Tollways Management Corp. and MPCALA Holdings.  He has been with the First Pacific/MVP Group since 1994, first under the packaging business and later under the Telecoms Group. He has led the tollways group in its expansion projects, and championed strategies and programs on customer service satisfaction, innovation and a performance-driven culture that has promoted profitability and growth of the organization. Under his term, the total length of toll roads owned by MPTC increased from 90 kilometers to 350 km, with profitability increasing nearly threefold.

He is the 2009 PISM Gawad Sinop awardee, an award conferred by the Foundation of the Society of Fellows in Supply Management and the Philippine Institute for Supply Management (PISM) to outstanding achievers in the field of supply management.

He is a BS Industrial Management Engineering graduate of De La Salle University and has an MBM from the Asian Institute of Management.  He completed his Advanced Management Program of IESE (Spain)/University of Asia and the Pacific in 2014.

Fernandez will lead the MAP in 2018 along with other board members including Donald Lim, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network  Philippines, as VP; Rizalina Mantaring, CEO and country head of Sun Life Financial Philippines, as treasurer; Cesar Romero, country chairman of Shell Companies in the Philippines, as assistant treasurer; and Ma. Carolina Dominguez, president and CEO of John Clements Consultants Inc., as secretary.

The other board members are Rene Almendras, president and CEO of AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp., Romeo Bernardo, managing director of Lazaro Bernardo Tiu & Associates; Alfredo Pascual, special adviser of the University of the Philippines; and Peter Wallace, chair of Wallace Business Forum.
