BDO lands in Forbes list of world’s best employers

Lawrence Agcaoili - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sy-led BDO Unibank Inc. was the only Philippine financial institution to be named in the Top 50 of Forbes’ Best Employers in the world for 2017.

The country’s largest bank owned by retail and banking magnate Henry Sy placed 23rd in the publication’s 2017 Global 2000 rankings featuring publicly-listed companies from 58 countries.

Forbes commissioned Statista, an online statistics and market research firm, to facilitate a survey and analysis of more than 360,000 global recommendations.

Employees from around the world were asked to rate their own employer and the likelihood of them recommending their company to a friend or family member. The respondents were also asked to recommend other employers they admired.

This is the second time in recent weeks that an independent entity has made a sound endorsement of BDO as a top employer.

Online recruitment site Jobstreet.com announced just this September that BDO placed sixth overall in the category of “Top Ten Companies Filipinos Aspire to Work For,” and was cited for its global reach, job security, and work-life balance.

Jobstreet conducted a survey involving 3,658 Jobstreet.com account holders.

BDO continues to be active in recruitment events across various regions in the country while also offering career opportunities through its overseas offices to support global operations.

It has one of the largest distribution networks, with more than 1,100 operating branches and over 3,800 ATMs nationwide. It also has a full-service branch in Hong Kong as well as 26 overseas remittance and representative offices in Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East.

BDO’s net income went up 5.7 percent to P20.4 billion in the first nine months from P19.3 billion in the same period last year.
