iflix expands local offerings

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Internet television service provider iflix is expanding its content offering by including more local shows as it seeks to grow its subscriber base and maintain its leading position in the Philippine market.

Sherwin dela Cruz, co-founder and country general manager for iflix Philippines, said the entertainment service is including more local content in its offering to cater to the preferences of more Filipino viewers.

“We’re trying to understand what people really want, and hence the localization of content,” he said.

The entertainment service recently introduced new channels such as ABS-CBN, Star Cinema and GMA to enable iflix users to access content from the three local studios.

To allow users to enjoy content from regional studios, iflix has also made available channels such as  tVN Movies for Korean films, Aniplus for anime and GTH for Thai movies.

Dela Cruz said it is important to expand the content offering not just to keep existing subscribers, but to grow the number as well.
