Management guide to analyzing financial statements

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - How to make sense of financial reports is the typical challenge faced by decision-makers. While many can read financial statements, only very few can correctly interpret and analyze the numbers to make the right decisions in board and management meetings.

To help in master financial statements, the Center for Global Best Practices (www.cgbp.org) will run a seminar  on “How to Really Read Financial Statements for Board Directors and Decision-Makers,” on Sept. 7 and 8, 2017 at The EDSA Shangri-La Manila, Mandaluyong City.

This easy-to-understand program is designed for non-finance decision-makers who make use of financial statements. This is to help business owners, board directors and management make sense of the annual reports, income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows.

Find out what is right, what is wrong, and what is fishy in the financial reports. You will become more effective in your decisions if you understand the numbers and the meaning behind those numbers. Most importantly, improving your financial literacy will ensure you are being dealt with fairly and squarely by accountants and finance professionals – ensuring that you are not being taken for a ride.

In this two-day program, you will also learn to interpret the external auditors’ opinion as well as the footnotes and disclosures in annual reports. The skills you will learn will be very useful in investment decisions for your company and even in choosing stocks in the capital markets.

This special program will feature Jonathan Ravelas, chief market strategist of BDO. His valuable insights and analysis on the financial performance of companies and the equities market are well sought after with his commentaries.

This will also feature Mary Jane Rosales, CPA, CIA, former president of The Institute of Internal Auditors in the Philippines (2008). She has a mastery of finance, having spent most of her career handling controllership and risk management functions in Petron Corp.

Attend this once-a-year event and avail of the early payment savings and group discounts for three or more participants. This is a limited-seats-only event and pre-registration is required.
