MPIC bags ‘Benchmark of Excellence’ plums at Asian Excellence Awards

MANILA, Philippines - Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) recently won “Benchmark of Excellence” awards in the areas of investor relations, environmental communications and corporate governance in the 7th Asian Excellence Awards 2017 organized by Corporate Governance Asia, the most authoritative corporate governance journal in Asia.

Melody del Rosario, MPIC vice president for corporate communications, (in photo, right) accepted the awards from Aldrin Monsod, managing director and publisher of Corporate Governance Asia, at the ceremony held in Hong Kong, which was attended by more than 340 people from 110 companies in 10 countries.

“The MPIC team behind this award is deeply honored for this recognition of the challenging task to promote and encourage environmental, social, investor relations as well as promote the values of corporate governance in the Philippines,” Del Rosario said. “These awards will inspire us to continue on the right path, which I am sure will encourage others to follow.”

The Asian Excellence Awards recognizes excellence in financial performance, investor relations, business ethics, corporate social responsibility and the environmental practices of companies around Asia.

The awards were chosen among thousands of corporations across Asia Pacific based on a quantitative score as well as research results gathered from investor interviews conducted by the organizer.

Corporate Governance Asia is a journal on corporate governance based in Hong Kong. It provides news and analysis of corporate governance issues, boardroom performance and shareholder activism.

Earlier this year, MPIC was named “Best Managed Company” in the Philippines by FinanceAsia, a regional financial magazine which published a survey on Asia’s Best Managed Companies 2017 showing the local infrastructure conglomerate topping the list of Philippine companies.

MPIC’s eight-year-old environmental advocacy, ‘Shore it Up’, also garnered prestigious recognitions such as the Anvil Award of Merit and the Best CSR in the Corporate Governance Asia Award.
