BDO piles up banking awards

MANILA, Philippines -  BDO Unibank, the country’s biggest bank to date in terms of assets, was named Best Bank in the Philippines and awarded with a number of other accolades this year by various foreign financial publications.

Among the publications that gave the awards include Finance Asia, The Asset, Alpha Southeast Asia, and the Asian Investor. It was Finance Asia, a Hong Kong-based financial publication that handed BDO the prestigious Best Bank in the Philippines award in the concluded Country Awards for Achievement 2017.

Apart from this, the bank also won the Best ECM (Equity Capital Markets) House award, the Best Private Bank for subsidiary BDO Private Bank, and the Best Investment Bank award for its investment banking arm BDO Capital & Investment Corp.

BDO was also cited at this year’s The Asset Triple A Asset Servicing, Fund Management and Investors Awards, with two awards – Impact Investor of the Year (Philippines) and the Asset Management Company of the Year – Highly Commended (Philippines). This is the 2nd consecutive year that BDO won the “Impact Investor of the Year” award.

The Asset Triple A Asset Servicing, Fund Management and Investors Awards set the benchmark in Asia for investment and custody prowess. It is the only one of its kind that assesses both buyside institutions (investors and fund managers) and sellside service providers (custodians, fund administrators, securities lending agents, transition managers, among others) to deliver a complete account of Asia’s dynamic asset servicing industry.

Meanwhile, the bank bagged the most awards for the Philippines category at the 11th Annual Best Financial Inclusion Awards in Southeast Asia. These include the Best Bond House (BDO Capital & Investment Corp.), Best Equity House (BDO Capital & Investment Corp.), Best Cash Management Bank (BDO Unibank), and the Best Private Wealth Management Bank (BDO Private Bank) which is the bank’s 10th win.

The 11th Annual Best Financial Inclusion Awards is organized by Alpha Southeast Asia, the first and only institutional investment magazine focused on Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).

Most recently, BDO was also awarded the 2017 “Best Transaction Bank in the Philippines” and “Best Cash Management Bank in the Philippines” awards by the Asian Banker. The Asian Banker Transaction Banking Awards recognize leadership in cash management, trade, finance and payments industries among international financial institutions in the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

BDO’s Trust and Investments Group was likewise recognized as the “Fund House of the Year” for the Philippines at the 2017 Asian Investor Asset Management Awards held in Hong Kong.
