MANILA, Philippines - UCPB has been tapped by the Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loan Association Inc. (AFPSLAI) to help facilitate the pay out of the loans it issues to its members.

UCPB president and CEO Higinio Macadaeg Jr. and AFPSLAI president and CEO Lt. Gen. Virgilio Domingo led the signing of the memorandum of agreement.

Through the UCPB’s U-Remit service, AFPSLAI members could opt to receive their loan proceeds either via over the counter at any UCPB branch nationwide or have it credited to their UCPB or other bank accounts.

Given the nationwide deployment of its members, such as soldiers and police officers, AFPSLAI recognized the need of extending the reach of its services.

“Thank you to our partners in the AFPSLAI. I’m glad they found the bank capable of handling their requirement,” Macadaeg said.

“UCPB has shown its commitment to provide excellent service over the years. We’re delighted that we have brought this long-standing partnership to a new venture to serve our members better through convenient pay outs,” Domingo added.

With the partnership, AFPSLAI members need only to go to any of their 21 branches and 50 extension offices nationwide to file their loan application.

Once the application is processed and approved, members may opt to have their loan proceeds released at the UCPB branch near them, or have it credited to their UCPB account or another bank account.

AFPSLAI’s head of Cash and Investment Management Division Girlie Dario said the partnership with UCPB will make it easier and more convenient for their members to avail loans.

“When we sought the help of our partner banks to provide a facility to make it easy for our members to claim their loan proceeds, UCPB was the first to respond by tailor-fitting their system and processes to comply with our requirements,” Dario said.
