MANILA, Philippines — PLDT Enterprise once again supported the prestigious cycling competition Le Tour de Filipinas. On its eighth edition, the much-awaited sporting event lived up to its promise: a challenging race through the Bicol and Southern Tagalog regions.

Le Tour de Filipinas 2017 had 75 international and local cyclists comprising 15 teams that made their way through the four-stage race, starting in Legazpi City, Albay and ending in Lucena City, Quezon.  The 722.95-kilometer race also became a stimulating ride for the cyclists due to the gradual upward gradient in certain sections of the route.

The support of PLDT Enterprise, along with the MVP Sports Foundation and Smart Communications, underscored the PLDT Group’s commitment to promoting events that showcased not only the beauty of the Philippines but also the skills of local athletes.

Representing the Philippines were the 7 Eleven Sava Road Bike Philippines and the PhilCycling National Team, who competed with cyclists from Australia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Malaysia, South Korea and Switzerland.

“We are delighted to extend our support to Le Tour de Filipinas and the Filipino teams racing in this exciting event,” said VP and Head of PLDT ALPHA Vic Tria.  “With events like this, we showcase how the Philippines can make a beautiful backdrop for competitions that test the mettle of world-class athletes, while showcasing how our own cyclists can compete with the best of the best.”
