Man held for Ravena nude photo scandal

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  A man was arrested yesterday for allegedly uploading the nude photographs of basketball star Kiefer Ravena on the internet.

Kristoffer Ng, 23, reportedly a bank employee, was captured by police officers at around 12:20 p.m. at Eastwood Central Park in Barangay Libis, Quezon City.

Police officers from the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) apprehended Ng after he received an envelope containing P25,000 in cash from Ravena’s driver.

Superintendent Jay Guillermo, ACG spokesman, said Ng contacted Ravena about two weeks ago since he obtained nude photos Ravena allegedly sent to a woman on Viber.

Ravena was mum on how the suspect obtained his photos, which were eventually uploaded and went viral on the internet.

Ng allegedly received P25,000 in cash from Ravena’s camp on Tuesday and agreed to another payoff yesterday.

“The suspect claimed another person obtained Ravena’s photos but he could not provide a name,” Guillermo said in a brief interview.

Ng refused to give further comments and hid his face from members of media.

Ng was brought to the ACG headquarters for investigation.

He is facing a charge of extortion under Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
