Ellen Adarna questions Tomas’ warning vs brats

CEBU, Philippines - The controversial road rage shooting incident in Cebu City has taken on an equally controversial twist.

 Yesterday, Mayor Tomas Osmeña was made to respond on a Facebook post of Cebuana celebrity Ellen Adarna that took a swipe on his son, Miguel, over the mayor’s earlier statement that he wants spoiled brats in the city to know they are not special.

Osmeña issued the statement in line with his frontline effort to arrest shooting suspect David Lim, Jr.

But Adarna, in her post, said Osmeña’s statement affected her to an extent.

“Hahaha! REALLY REALLY REALLY???? WELL WELL WELL... WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE HAHAHAHAHA Throwback feelings when your "BRAT" shot my kabarkadas digi cam, hung it on her gate and threatened us with a text message "the next time this happens the bullet goes through your head" pag sure Tomas oy! Dugay kay tong na headline ug balita. Na trauma mi adto kay kuwang kuwang man diay sad na imong "BRAT",” Adarna’s post reads.

“Dili ni about sa current situation about David Lim Jr. This is about Tomas calling out all the spoiled brats of Cebu (na affected ko gamay kai brat ko. Way magbuot) but I guess nakalimot siya that his son did this to us years ago. BRAT sad iyang anak so...I think he should talk to him and walk his talk... but basin nag bago nasad to iyang little brat kay people change..but still di gihapon to makalimtan sad iyang gibuhat Period!.. Ahahahahahaa samoka oy hahaahahaahah OOO nara oh! Para mahilom namo,” it added.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the post was shared 404 times and generated 2,000 likes.

No complaint

Yesterday, Osmeña said he was supposed to take a leave when the supposed incident happened in 2009 so that the police could investigate the matter but no case was filed against Miguel in court.

“You know that incident in 2009, when it was reported, he just left for the states, they waited for the complaint…If you check the records, I offered to leave immediately but there was no complaint filed. Why would I go for a leave? But, sige, go ahead and investigate,” he said.

“If they see something wrong, file a complaint and put him under scrutiny. My son is the son of the mayor for over 20 years but he is not using government cars, no bodyguards. My son is a good shooter but did he shoot anyone?” Osmeña said.

Osmeña also clarified that no settlement took place in line with the supposed incident in the absence of the complaint.

The mayor also questioned Adarna’s capacity to raise the issue of the supposed threatening text message.

“Who’s Adarna? She was not the party involved. Why would she receive threats?” he said.

Adarna’s Facebook post came with a text message from an unknown number, which they believed came from Miguel: The next time that has to happen Sam, the bullet goes through your head.

The “Sam” in the message is reportedly Samantha Elise Diores Benitez, the best friend of Miguel’s wife, Ana Gabriela Beatriz Villegas who was still Miguel’s girlfriend at that time.

Benitez allegedly just allowed Villegas to get very drunk at a bar across a university downtown, which angered Miguel.

Using his wife’s Facebook account, Miguel said Adarna is reacting this way because she is Lim’s friend.

“Yes, I did call Samantha Benitez to ask what happened, and when answered with laughter, called her a worthless piece of shit. That's it. No camera was shot, much less delivered. Question lang: if Samantha was so alarmed by this death threat I supposedly sent her, why did she wait until I left back for the U.S. before making it public? The incident happened on a Friday. She went to media on a Tuesday, the day she KNEW I was leaving (because she's supposed to be Bea's friend) for my last semester of college. How am I supposed to answer her accusations if I'm gone? Also, I left alone, not with my parents as that article mistakenly reports. Samantha Benitez, like her barkada, is from a rich affluent family. She cannot claim victimhood like the nurse who was shot by her friend David Lim Jr.,” Miguel said.

“If she was so convinced of my guilt, why did she fail to submit the camera to the NBI for fingerprinting and ballistics tests? I've seen pictures of that camera, anyone who's tried shooting a metal object like a can will tell you that bullets make round holes when going through thin metal objects, not jagged holes. She lives in a subdivision. Where is the guardhouse logbook the police was asking for?” (FREEMAN)
