CEB passengers grow 5% in Jan

MANILA, Philippines -  Volume of passengers served by Cebu Pacific (CEB)  and subsidiary Cebgo grew five percent in January from a year ago.

Data from CEB showed the group carried a combined 1.72 million passengers in January, up from 1.64 million in the same month last year.

The group’s capacity went up six percent to 2.02 million in January from 1.90 million in the same month in 2015.

Seat load factor, meanwhile, declined slightly to 85 percent in January from the previous year’s 86.5 percent.

The group’s total number of flights also rose 3.5 percent to 11,738 in January from 11,337 in the same month a year ago.

For January alone, the group utilized 57 aircraft to support its operations.

Last year, CEB and Cebgo served a total of 19.13 million passengers, four percent higher than the 18.38 million passengers in 2015.

Late last month, the group took delivery of a new ATR 72-600 aircraft.

With the new ATR 72-600, the group now has a fleet of 59 aircraft.

Between this year until 2021, the group expects delivery of new aircraft, particularly one more brand-new Airbus A330, 32 Airbus A321neos, and 12 ATR 72-600 aircraft.

The group currently operates flights to a total of 37 domestic and 29 international destinations across Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and the US.
